These CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills (SKU: DCD12) are thin-walled core bits with a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep, multi-layer diamond and bonding matrix engineered for high-speed, high-production glass drilling. Designed for precision drilling presses, the DCD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) shank for a secure grip. The HBT Series offers Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread), a common choice for U.S. and European glass drilling machines.

Due to their fragile, thin-wall construction, these electro-formed diamond drills must be used only in precision, true-running production drilling presses—never freehand. Use on flat (plate) glass only. Light, controlled pressure and a dressing (sharpening) stone before each use will substantially improve cutting performance. A dressing stone is highly recommended when working with electro-formed diamond drills.

IMPORTANT NOTE: CRL DCD and HBT Series Diamond Drills are EXTREMELY FRAGILE. Intended for drilling flat plate glass only in a production-type drilling press.

NEVER perform freehand drilling. Hand drills require a stabilization base such as the GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases. Improper use can damage the bit and void the warranty.

Always wear proper safety gear—gloves and eye protection—when drilling glass. Work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter whenever an electric tool is used with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
