These CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills are thin-walled, multi-layer diamond drills with a 1/2" (12.7 mm) diamond matrix depth designed for high-speed, high-production drilling of flat glass. Electro-formed construction delivers precise cutting performance when used under exacting conditions on production equipment. The DCD Series includes an extra-long shank for a positive grip; the HBT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas), commonly used on U.S. and European glass drilling machines.
Because these drills have an extremely thin wall, they are FRAGILE and intended for drilling flat (plate) glass only in a precision glass drilling press or production drilling machine. Never use for freehand drilling. Use a stabilization base (e.g., GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases) if a powered hand drill is required. Sharpening or "dressing" with a dressing stone before each use will substantially improve cutting ability—use a dressing stone for electro-formed diamond drills.
Safety & handling: Handle with care, apply minimal pressure, and work on flat surfaces only. Always wear gloves and eye protection. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter when combining electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in injury and may void the warranty.
Optimize your production drilling with the HBT12 electro-formed diamond drill—order now or contact CRL for compatibility and quantities.
