- For fast cutting in high-production glass drilling
- Extended work life with multi-layer electro-formed diamond matrix
- Two mounting styles: Straight shank (3/8" x 1-3/8" / 9.5 x 35 mm) or Belgian type (HBT)
- Thin-walled 1/2" (12.7 mm) diamond depth for precision plate glass drilling
These
CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills (SKU: DCD14) feature a thin wall and a multi-layer diamond/bonding matrix designed for high-speed, high-production drilling of flat plate glass. The DCD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 9.5 mm) shank for a positive grip; the HBT Series uses Belgian-style 1/2" (12.7 mm, gas) mounting threads common to U.S. and European glass drilling machines. These electro-formed diamond drill bits deliver superior cutting when used under precise, controlled conditions.
Because these drills are extremely fragile, use only in a precision production drilling press—never freehand. Handle with care and operate on flat surfaces only. Sharpening or "dressing" the bit before each run with a dressing stone significantly improves cutting performance and extends life. A dressing stone is strongly recommended.
IMPORTANT NOTE: CRL DCD and HBT Series diamond drills have very thin walls and are INTENDED FOR FLAT (PLATE) GLASS ONLY. Improper use can damage the bit and void the warranty.
NEVER perform freehand drilling. If hand-held equipment is required, use a stabilization base such as the GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases. Always wear appropriate safety gear including gloves and eye protection, and work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter whenever using electric tools with water or coolant to prevent injury.
