This clear, tough plastic tape features a clear polyethylene adhesive backing, measures eight mils (.2 mm) thick, and provides high adhesion to steel and other structural metals. The tape prevents unwanted bond-through so sealant adheres only where intended—allowing correct expansion and reducing the risk of tearing or failure. Apply Bond Breaker Tape to the bottom of shallow joints so the sealant bonds only to the walls, or apply to metal edges for metal butt joints so the sealant can be "buttered" over the joint and expand properly.
