CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills use a specialized diamond and brass (bronze) bond formulated for maximum performance when drilling glass. Metal bond diamond drills provide the longest life among diamond drill types—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper maintenance and use of a wet sharpening stone to expose fresh diamonds. Made in Italy, these multi-layer drills cut faster and run cooler than many alternatives. Their full 3/8" (10 mm) deep diamond-packed cutting surface delivers extended drill life but requires use on flat glass in true-running machines to avoid breakage.

The CRL PD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) diameter shank for a positive grip. The CRL PDT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas), a common standard for U.S. and European glass drilling machines. PDT bits (SKU PDT14) work in portable machines such as the CRL AMZ1 and are optimized for production equipment and high-volume glass drilling applications.

NOTE: Always wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves and eye protection, when drilling glass. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
