CRL Saint-Gobain/Norton V2100 Thermalbond® Tape (SKU: V210812) is a semi-rigid, high-density foam tape with aggressive pressure-sensitive adhesive on both sides. Engineered as a structural silicone glazing spacer tape, its open-cell, semi-rigid substrate maintains precise joint dimensions, allows air and moisture to reach the silicone for optimum curing, and acts as a thermal break to reduce heat transfer and condensation on windows, doors, curtain walls and storefronts.
Recommended uses include: two- and four-sided structural silicone glazing of curtain walls, storefronts, skylights and windows; temporary securing of glazing or panels during shop fabrication of unitized systems; holding lightweight veneers while structural silicone adhesives cure; and providing an even sight line in vision areas. V2100 is stocked in architectural black in nine standard sizes (additional sizes and colors available by special order).
Key benefits: chemically compatible with commercial silicones, highly aggressive adhesive, maintains spacing for reliable structural silicone cures, reduces thermal conduction, and resists condensation.
Limitations: Thermalbond® V2100 is a spacer material—not a structural fastener. Do not rely on V2100 adhesive as part of the permanent fastening system or to reduce the silicone adhesive specified by the silicone manufacturer. Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned; position carefully because V2100 cannot be repositioned after initial contact. Some substrates may require Norton Tite-R-Bond adhesion promoter.
Typical properties: Density: 31 lbs./cu.ft. (497 kg/m³); Hardness: 35 durometer Shore A; Force to compress 10%: 31 psi (214 kPa); Tensile strength: 180 psi (1241 kPa); Elongation: 125%; Temperature range: Application 60°F (16°C) to 125°F (52°C); Service -40°F (-40°C) to 180°F (82°C).
