Description
Overview
- Structural glazing spacer tape for field and shop glazing
- Ideal for two- and four-sided structural silicone glazing systems (curtain walls, storefronts, skylights, windows)
- Chemically compatible with commercial silicone sealants
- Architectural black finish; stocked in nine sizes (other sizes/colors special order)
CRL Saint-Gobain/Norton V2100 Thermalbond® Tape (SKU V210814) is a semi-rigid, high-density foam spacer tape with aggressive pressure-sensitive adhesive on both faces. Designed as a structural silicone glazing spacer, V2100 maintains joint dimension control, reduces thermal conduction, and helps prevent condensation—making it a go-to choice for structural silicone glazing projects and thermal break applications.
Key differentiators:
- Semi-rigid, open-cell construction allows air and moisture to reach the silicone for optimum cure
- Aggressive adhesive on both sides for reliable temporary positioning during shop fabrication and field glazing
- Low thermal conductivity acts as a thermal break between glass, metal, stone, and panel systems
- Proven compatibility with all commercial silicone sealants tested
Typical uses: spacer for glass, metal, stone, mineral cement, and plastic panels in two- and four-sided structural silicone glazing systems; temporary securement of glazing or veneers in shop fabrication; providing even sight lines in vision areas.
Typical Properties
- Density: 31 lbs./cu.ft. (497 kg/m³)
- Hardness: 35 durometer Shore A
- Force to Compress 10%: 31 psi (214 kPa)
- Tensile Strength: 180 psi (1241 kPa)
- Elongation: 125%
- Application Temp: 60°F (16°C) to 125°F (52°C)
- Service Temp: -40°F (-40°C) to 180°F (82°C)
Limitations & Product Warning
Thermalbond® V2100 is a spacer material and not a structural component. Do not rely on its adhesive as part of the permanent fastening system or to reduce the silicone adhesive recommended by the silicone manufacturer. Contact surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned. Position carefully—V2100 cannot be repositioned after initial contact. Some substrates may require Norton Tite-R-Bond Adhesion Promoter.
