CRL Saint-Gobain/Norton V2100 Thermalbond® Tape (SKU: V210834) is a semi-rigid, high-density foam tape with aggressive pressure-sensitive adhesive on both faces. Designed as a spacer for structural silicone glazing, this Thermalbond® V2100 tape controls joint dimension, maintains even sightlines, and serves as a thermal break to reduce heat conduction and inhibit condensation on windows, storefronts, curtain walls, skylights and unitized cladding systems.
V2100’s semi-rigid open-cell substrate allows air and moisture to reach the silicone for optimum curing while providing the spacing integrity required for two- and four-sided structural silicone glazing systems. The tape is compatible with all commercial structural silicone sealants tested and is commonly used to temporarily secure glass, metal, stone, mineral cement and plastic panels during shop fabrication and while permanent silicone adhesives cure.
Key differentiators:
- Industry-standard spacer tape for structural silicone glazing systems
- High-density, semi-rigid open-cell foam that permits silicone cure
- Aggressive pressure-sensitive adhesive on both sides for temporary positioning during fabrication
- Provides thermal break benefits to reduce heat transfer and condensation
Limitations:
Thermalbond® V2100 is a spacer material and not a structural fastener. Do not rely on V2100 adhesive as part of the permanent fastening system or to reduce the silicone sealant specified by the silicone manufacturer. Contact surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned; positioning is permanent on initial contact. Some substrates may require Norton Tite‑R‑Bond adhesion promoter.
Typical properties:
Density: 31 lbs./cu. ft. (497 kg/m³); Hardness: 35 durometer Shore A; Force to compress 10%: 31 psi (214 kPa); Tensile strength: 180 psi (1241 kPa); Elongation: 125%; Application temperature: 60°F (16°C) to 125°F (52°C); Service temperature: -40°F (-40°C) to 180°F (82°C).
