Overview
- Structural glazing spacer tape for field and shop glazing
- Ideal for two- and four-sided structural silicone glazing systems
- Chemically compatible with commercial structural silicone sealants
- Black color (architectural black standard; other colors available by special order)
CRL V2200 Thermalbond® Tape is a high-density, semi-rigid foam tape with aggressive pressure-sensitive adhesive. Its specially formulated cellular substrate maintains joint dimensions as a spacer in structural silicone glazing systems and is widely used in curtain walls, storefronts, skylights, and windows.
The tape is compatible with commercial silicone sealants and features aggressive adhesive on both sides plus an open-cell structure that preserves spacing while allowing air and moisture to reach the silicone for optimal curing. Low thermal conductivity reduces heat transfer and helps inhibit condensation on glass, metal, and metal-framed fenestration systems.
Designed uses:
- Spacer for glass, metal, stone, mineral cement, and plastic panels in structural silicone glazing
- Two- and four-sided structural silicone glazing of curtain walls, storefronts, skylights, and windows
- Temporary securing of glazing or panels during shop fabrication of unitized systems
- Temporary support for lightweight veneers while structural silicone adhesives cure
- Thermal break to reduce heat conduction and to provide an even sight line in vision areas
Limitations
- Thermalbond® V2100/V2200 is a spacer material only — not a structural fastener.
- Do not rely on tape adhesive as part of the permanent fastening system or to reduce silicone adhesive specified by the silicone manufacturer.
- Contact surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned; position carefully — tape is not repositionable after contact.
- Some substrates may require priming with Norton Tite-R-Bond Adhesion Promoter.
Typical properties:
- Density: 31 lbs./cu.ft. (497 kg/m³)
