CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills use a durable diamond-and-bronze bond engineered for metal bond diamond drill performance in glass. Metal bond drills deliver the longest life of any diamond drill—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper maintenance and periodic wet sharpening to expose fresh diamonds. These Italian-made, multi-layer drills cut faster and run cooler than many competitors. The full 3/8" (10 mm) deep cutting surface is packed with diamonds and bronze bond for extended life, though the metal bond construction is more fragile and requires use in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces. The PD Series offers an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) diameter shank for a positive grip; the PDT Series provides Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas), widely compatible with U.S. and European glass drilling machines and portable units such as the CRL AMZ1, while being ideal for production equipment.
