Overview

  • Fast cutting, high-production electro-formed diamond drills for glass
  • Extended work life with multi-layer diamond matrix
  • Two mounting styles: Straight shank or Belgian-style (1/2" gas thread)

These CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills (SKU HBT212) are thin-walled, with a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep multi-layer diamond and bonding matrix optimized for high-speed, high-production glass drilling. They deliver exceptional results when used under precise, controlled conditions. The CRL DCD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 9.5 mm) diameter shank for a secure grip; the CRL HBT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread), a common choice for U.S. and European glass drilling machines.

These drills are fragile by design and must be used in precision drilling machines—never apply excessive pressure. Use only on flat (plate) glass surfaces. Sharpening or "dressing" the drill before each use significantly improves cutting performance; a dressing stone is recommended when working with electro-formed diamond drill bits for glass.

IMPORTANT NOTE: CRL DCD and HBT Series Diamond Drills have an extremely thin wall and are INTENDED FOR FLAT GLASS ONLY in a production-style drilling press.

NEVER perform freehand drilling. Hand drills require a stabilization base such as CRL GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases. Improper use may damage the bit and void the warranty.

Always wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves and eye protection. Work on a flat, horizontal surface and use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) when combining electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
