CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills are Italian-made metal bond diamond drill bits for glass designed for long life and reliable production performance. The PD Series features an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) diameter shank for a secure grip; the PDT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread), compatible with most U.S. and European glass drilling machines and portable units such as the CRL AMZ1.
These metal bond drills use a special diamond-and-bronze bond that provides extended life—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6 mm) glass with proper maintenance and periodic use of a wet sharpening stone to expose fresh diamonds. The full 3/8" (10 mm) deep diamond cutting surface cuts faster and runs cooler than many alternatives, making these ideal metal bond diamond drills for glass production work. Because the multi-layer diamond matrix and bronze bond extend life but increase fragility, always use these drills in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces.
NOTE: Always wear proper safety gear (gloves and eye protection) when drilling glass. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt Device (Cat. No. GF1) whenever using electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
