CRL Bond Breaker Tape (SKU: 827T2) creates a proper two-way sealant bond for reliable joint performance. This clear, tough plastic tape features a clear polyethylene adhesive backing and measures eight mils (0.2 mm) thick. Designed for high adhesion to steel and other structural metals, the tape prevents sealant from bonding to the joint bottom so the sealant bonds only to the walls—allowing correct expansion and contraction and reducing tearing or failure.
For shallow joints, apply Bond Breaker Tape to the bottom of the joint so the sealant bonds only to the walls. For metal butt joints, apply the tape to metal edges so the sealant can be buttered over the joint and properly expand or contract. Ideal for metal butt joint sealing and shallow joint sealant applications where a consistent bond-break layer is needed.
