Description
Overview
- Use to expose fresh diamond cutting crystals
- Restores cutting life to production diamond drills
- Three sizes fit drills up to 6" (152 mm) diameter
Achieve maximum life from your diamond drills by using the correct CRL Sharpening Stone (SKU: PDSS). These highly abrasive dressing stones remove worn bond matrix and spent diamond contact to expose fresh cutting crystals for improved glass and tile drilling performance. Intended for multi-layer diamond core drills such as DCD, HBT, PD, and PDT Series, the stone lightly dresses the diamond surface to restore speed and cutting efficiency.
Always use a sharpening stone with a surface wider than the drill diameter for safety. A smaller stone can catch and spin, creating a hazard. Ensure the entire diamond section contacts the stone and avoid over-dressing—only light passes are required. Do not dress the sides of diamond drills.
TO SHARPEN:
Submerge the stone in water or a suitable coolant to fully saturate. Secure the stone under the mounted drill and block it to prevent spinning. Set the drill to the slowest speed and lower it onto the stone several times with light pressure to ensure 360° contact. Withdraw the diamond tube drill and, by hand, turn it counter-clockwise 3–4 turns in the groove created in the stone. Re-test drilling; cutting performance should be significantly improved.
NOTE: For sharpening diamond wheels, use our finer EMSS Type Stones.
Product Warning:
Always wear proper safety gear including eye protection when using a sharpening stone. Use a stone wider than the drill being sharpened to minimize breakage risk. Failure to follow precautions can result in operator injury.
