Ordering Tips for FA Series Sash Balances
- Remove the existing channel balance and measure the metal channel only — do not include the guides. Measure to the nearest full inch.
- Some manufacturers used special 1/2" (12.7 mm) increment channel lengths; these are not stocked but can be special ordered.
- Always check the stamped or laser-etched number on the back of the channel balance (four numbers or two numbers and a letter), for example: 2710 or 27-2. Use that stamped code to match the CRL catalog number (for example, stamped 1710 or 17-1 on an 18" channel corresponds to CRL Cat. No. FA1710).
- The catalog chart also lists vent weight ranges — the sash weight a pair of channel balances will hold. This does not account for excessive weatherstrip friction. Use the weight chart for reference if the stamped number is unreadable.
Special weight-range channel balances are available by special order. Stocked balances run FA1210 through FA4240; the 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 indicate the counter-balance weight designation. If a channel balance shows 90 (or 9
