These CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills (SKU HBT312) are thin-walled diamond drill bits engineered for high-speed, high-production drilling of flat glass. Each bit features a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep multi-layer diamond matrix designed to deliver precise holes when used under proper conditions. The CRL DCD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" × 3/8" (35 × 9.5 mm) shank for a positive machine grip. The CRL HBT Series offers Belgian style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread), a common choice for U.S. and European glass drilling machines.

Because these thin-walled diamond drills are extremely fragile, they must be used in a precision drilling press and never with excessive pressure. Use only on flat (plate) glass surfaces and avoid freehand or handheld drilling. Dressing (sharpening) the drill with a dressing stone before each use substantially improves cutting performance—use a dressing stone as recommended for electro-formed diamond drill bits.

IMPORTANT NOTE: CRL DCD and HBT Series drills are intended for production-style, machine drilling of flat glass only. NEVER perform freehand drilling. If a hand drill is required, stabilize with an approved drilling base such as the GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases. Improper use may damage the bit and void the warranty.

Always wear appropriate PPE, including gloves and eye protection. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface and use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these safety precautions can result in operator injury.
