Overview

  • For fast cutting and high-production glass drilling
  • Extended work life with multi-layer electro-formed diamond matrix
  • Two mounting styles: Straight shank or Belgian type (HBT)
  • 3/8" x 1-3/8" (10 x 35 mm) shaft — positive grip for production presses

These CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills (SKU DCD38) feature a thin wall and a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep, multi-layer diamond bonding matrix engineered for high-speed, high-production drilling of flat glass. The DCD series uses an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 9.5 mm) diameter straight shank for a secure grip in production drill presses. The HBT series offers Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread), commonly used on U.S. and European glass drilling machines.

Because these diamond drill bits are extremely fragile, use only in precision, true-running production drilling presses—never freehand. Handle with care and drill only on flat, horizontal surfaces. Sharpening or "dressing" the drill with a dressing stone before each use significantly improves cutting performance; a dressing stone is strongly recommended.

IMPORTANT NOTE: CRL DCD and HBT Series diamond drills have very thin walls and are EXTREMELY FRAGILE. Intended for drilling flat (plate) glass ONLY in production-type drilling presses. NEVER perform freehand drilling. Hand drills require a stabilization base such as the GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases. Improper use may damage the bit and void the warranty.

Always wear appropriate safety gear (gloves and eye protection). Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter when using electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow precautions can result in injury.
