FA Series 3/30 Weight Range Sash Balances is a replacement window channel balance that requires nylon top and bottom guides to be riveted onto the metal channel. For a durable rivet set, customers can use CRL Cat. No. H3740 Rivet Set Tool (sold separately), which mushrooms the rivet for a strong mechanical set. These balances are ideal for window channel balance replacement and sash weight compensation in residential and commercial double-hung windows.
Guide Options are: FS290B, FS291B, FS292B, FS293B, FS294B, FS295B, FS296B, FS297B, FS298B, and FS299B
Ordering Tips for FA Series Sash Balances 1. Remove the existing channel balance from the window. Measure the length of the metal channel only — do not include the nylon guides. Use full-inch increments.
NOTE: A few manufacturers used special 1/2" (12.7 mm) increment channel lengths; these are not stocked but can be special ordered.
2. Look for the stamped or laser-etched identification on the back of the channel balance (four numbers or two numbers + letter), e.g., 2710 or 27-2. Match that number to the CRL catalog number. Example: a full 18" (457 mm) channel stamped 1710 or 17-1 corresponds to CRL Cat. No. FA1710. A full 27" channel stamped 2610 or 26-1 corresponds to FA2610.
The chart also shows a vent weight range — the approximate sash weight a pair of channel balances will hold, excluding excessive weatherstrip friction. Use the weight chart for reference or when the stamped
