These
CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills (SKU: DCD4) are thin-walled with a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep multi-layer diamond and bonding matrix engineered for high-speed, high-production drilling of flat glass. Designed as an
electro-formed diamond drill bit for glass, the DCD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 9.5 mm) diameter shank for a positive grip. The HBT Series offers Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread), commonly used on U.S. and European glass drilling machines.
These drills deliver outstanding results when used in precise, controlled conditions. Because of their fragile, thin-wall construction they must be used in a precision drilling press—never freehand—and only on flat plate glass. Always dress or sharpen the drill with a dressing stone before use to maximize cutting performance; a dressing stone is strongly recommended.
IMPORTANT NOTE: CRL DCD and HBT Series diamond drills are EXTREMELY FRAGILE and intended for flat (plate) glass only in production-type drilling presses.
NEVER perform freehand drilling. If using a handheld drill, stabilize with a base such as the GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases. Improper use can damage the bit and void the warranty.
Always wear proper safety gear, including gloves and eye protection. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface and use a
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter whenever electrical tools are used with water or coolant to prevent operator injury.
Most shipping weights are approximate and have not been verified. If exact weight is required to determine shipping costs, contact CRL Customer Service before ordering. Product images are of the actual product or a close representation; colors may vary depending on monitor settings.
