These CRL electro-formed diamond drills are thin-walled, with a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep multi-layer diamond matrix and bonding designed for high-speed, high-production glass drilling. Engineered for precision drilling presses, the DCD Series offers an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 9.5 mm) shank for a secure grip; the HBT Series (HBT4) provides Belgian-style 1/2" gas threads, a common mount for U.S. and European glass drilling machines. These bits are ideal when exacting conditions and consistent coolant flow are maintained.

Because these bits are extremely thin-walled and fragile, use only in a precision machine—never freehand. Always drill flat (plate) glass on a true-running production drill press. Sharpening or "dressing" the electro-formed surface with a dressing stone before each use substantially improves cutting performance. A dressing stone and stabilization base (such as CRL GDB1 or GDB2) are recommended for best results and to avoid damage or voiding the warranty.

Safety & usage tips: Wear gloves and eye protection. Work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.

IMPORTANT: CRL DCD and HBT Series diamond drills are intended for flat glass only and are not suitable for hand-held freehand drilling.
