- First, drill a pilot for hanger bolt HB1024xxxx - for hard woods: 7/64"Ø for soft woods: 3/32"Ø HB14xxxx - for hard woods: 9/64"Ø for soft woods: 7/64"Ø HB516xxxx - for hard woods: 13/64"Ø for soft woods: 11/64"Ø HB38xxxx - for hard woods: 7/32"Ø for soft woods: 3/16"Ø
- Second, replace drill bit with appropriate hanger bolt driver
- Third, slip on appropriate flat washer and thread on hex nut
- Fourth, thread hanger bolt into the hanger bolt driver and drive hanger bolt into pilot hole up to where it is stopped by the flat washer
- Lastly, remove Hanger Bolt Driver from hanger bolt. The flat washer and nut gives you the ability to help remove the Hanger Bolt Driver if it gets stuck on the hanger bolt.
