Overview

  • Designed for high-volume glass fabrication
  • 3/8" diamond matrix depth for extended cutting life
  • Two mounting styles: Straight shank (PD) or Belgian thread (PDT)

CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills (SKU: PDT78) use a multi-layer diamond and brass/bronze bond engineered in Italy for maximum performance in glass. Metal bond diamond drills deliver the longest life of any diamond drill—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper maintenance and periodic use of a wet sharpening stone to expose fresh diamonds. These Italian-made metal bond diamond drills cut faster and run cooler than conventional drills and feature a full 3/8" (10 mm) deep diamond-filled cutting surface for durable production drilling. Because of their dense bond, they are more fragile and should be used only in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces.

The CRL PD Series offers an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) diameter straight shank for a secure grip in production and portable machines. The CRL PDT Series uses Belgian-style 1/2" (12.7 mm) gas threads—widely compatible with U.S. and European glass drilling equipment—and is ideal for production machines and compatible portable units such as the CRL AMZ1.

NOTE: Always wear proper safety gear (gloves and eye protection). Drill on a flat, horizontal surface and use a Ground Fault Circuit Interruption device (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
