Description
Overview
- Use to expose fresh diamonds
- Restores life to production diamond drills
- Three sizes — fits drills up to 6" (152 mm) diameter
Extend diamond drill life with the correct sharpening stone. These highly abrasive CRL Sharpening Stones (SKU: PDSS4) remove worn bond material to expose fresh diamond cutting crystals. Designed for multi-layer diamond drills such as DCD, HBT, PD, and PDT Series, the Stone removes bond matrix to reveal a new cutting surface — ideal when your diamond drill becomes slow.
Key features & benefits:
- Compatible with multi-layer diamond drills (DCD, HBT, PD, PDT)
- Three sizes to match production needs — sharpens drills up to 6" (152 mm)
- Highly abrasive for efficient bond removal and fast performance recovery
- Intended for light dressing to expose fresh diamonds without overcutting
Safety & usage notes:
- Use a stone wider than the drill diameter — prevents the stone from spinning and reduces breakage risk.
- Ensure the entire diamond section contacts the stone; do not dress drill sides.
- Always wear eye protection and proper safety gear.
To sharpen: Submerge the stone in water or suitable coolant to saturate. Position the stone securely under the mounted drill and block it to prevent spinning. Set drill to the slowest speed and lower the drill onto the stone several times with light pressure to ensure 360° contact. Remove the drill and, by hand, rotate it counter-clockwise three to four turns in the groove created in the stone. Test drill — performance should be noticeably improved.
Note: For sharpening diamond wheels, use our finer EMSS Type Stones.
Product Warning:
Always wear proper safety gear including eye protection. Use a stone wider than the drill diameter to minimize breakage risk. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
