CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills — SKU PD916 employ a multi-layer diamond and brass (bronze) bond engineered in Italy for maximum life and cooler cutting in glass. Metal bond diamond drills deliver the longest service life of any diamond drill type — typically 1,000–2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper wet sharpening to expose fresh diamonds. The 3/8" deep diamond cutting surface increases durability for production environments but requires use on flat glass in true-running machines to avoid breakage.
The PD Series features an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" shank for a secure grip; the PDT Series uses Belgian (1/2" gas) threads common on U.S. and European glass drilling machines. Suitable for portable units like the CRL AMZ1, these metal-bond diamond drill bits excel in production equipment and high-volume glass fabrication workflows.
NOTE: Always wear proper safety gear (gloves, eye protection) and drill on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow precautions can result in injury.
