CRL RTV408 Industrial and Construction Silicone (SKU: RTV408BGE) is a neutral-cure, medium-modulus, 100% silicone sealant that cures to a durable, flexible rubber when exposed to moisture. Designed for insulating glass glazing and general construction glazing, RTV408 delivers primerless adhesion to aluminum, stainless steel, most plastics, rigid PVC (vinyl), phenolic resin, glass, ceramic, and most reflective-coated glasses. All surfaces must be properly cleaned and the sealant tooled for optimal adhesion. Cat. No. S1L2100 Primer may be required for some substrates. BASIC USES: Fast cure time and easy tooling make RTV408 ideal for in-house production and commercial glazing applications. Non-corrosive to most building materials, it seals curtainwall joints, vinyl/steel/aluminum windows, skylights, insulating glass units, and sanitary fixtures. Also used in vehicles, ships, and aircraft for electrical insulation where metal corrosion is a concern. RTV408 remains flexible and resists cracking from approximately -65° to 400°F (-54° to 204°C). It can be applied at outdoor temperatures as low as -20°F (-29°C) (surfaces must be clean, dry and frost-free) and up to 100°F (38°C). RTV408W and RTV408T include a fungicide for mildew-resistant cured sealant.

All CRL silicone sealant cartridges include Screw-On Nozzles for greater yield per tube. Nozzles are 4" (102 mm) long and tapered so you can trim to exact bead size. To order extra nozzles, specify Cat. No. S1LN0Z.

LIMITATIONS: Not recommended for concrete and stone expansion joints, horizontal decks, patios, driveways, or terraces subject to abrasion or heavy traffic; submerged joints where porous substrates permit water infiltration to the bond surface; structural glazing; food contact or potable water use; mirrors.
