An innovative frameless glass entrance solution, the CRL Wedge-Lock® Door Rail System secures monolithic tempered glass using the exclusive CRL Wedge-Lock® Securing System (U.S. Patents 6,434,905 and 6,912,818 B2; Canadian Patent 2,419,706; European Patent EP 1 404 939 B1). The system clamps the glass from the bottom using two glass-retaining aluminum extrusions and a flat stainless steel bar. As the bar is tightened with socket head cap bolts, angled extrusions engage an angled groove in the rail, creating compressive wedge force. Our 9" (228.6 mm) corner rail generates more than 900 lbs. of holding force (about 100 lbs. per inch), with even greater force in full-length door rails.
The Wedge-Lock® system provides a fast, reliable installation for commercial frameless glass doors and is engineered for durability in high-use and extreme environments. Experienced installers can prepare a door for installation in under ten minutes. Rails ship fully fabricated and ready-to-install with end caps installed. After rail installation, attach the door arm or pivot (not included) to the adjustable door alignment slide already assembled in the rail.
The standard Adjustable Door Alignment System allows ±1/8" (3.2 mm) adjustment toward or away from the jamb without removing the door, available on both top and bottom rails. To adjust after installation, remove the end cap to access three socket head cap bolts: the center bolt secures the slide; the two outer bolts adjust the slide in/out. The low-profile slide enables pivot placement other than the American Standard setback (2-3/4" / 69.8 mm), allowing fabrication for vertically out-of-square openings.
Key benefits and differentiators:
- High holding force from patented Wedge-Lock® wedge action — secure for heavy glass applications
- Pre-assembled, single-component housing that resists shifting or loss of adjustment over time
- Internal components remain in place during installation — faster, cleaner jobsite workflow
- Glass securing pads designed for longevity in extreme environments
- Models available to accept 3/8" or 1/2" (10 or
