Our innovative glass entrance solution, the CRL Wedge-Lock® Door Rail System, uses the exclusive CRL Wedge-Lock® Securing System (U.S. Patents 6,434,905 and 6,912,818 B2; Canadian Patent 2,419,706; European Patent EP 1 404 939 B1) to secure monolithic tempered glass in commercial doors. The system applies downward pressure using two glass-retaining aluminum extrusions and a flat stainless steel bar tightened with socket head cap bolts. Angled extrusions engage an angled groove in the rail, creating a powerful wedge action and, together with the specially designed door retaining gasket, generating very high clamping force (more than 900 lbs. in the 9" / 228.6 mm corner rail).

The Wedge-Lock® design delivers fast, reliable installation for glass door rails. Experienced installers can prepare a door for installation in under ten minutes. Rails ship completely fabricated and ready to install with end caps installed. After rail installation, simply attach the door arm or pivot (not included) to the pre-assembled adjustable door alignment slide.

The adjustable alignment slide (standard on both top and bottom rails) allows door adjustment of 1/8" (3.2 mm) toward or away from the jamb without removing the door. To adjust after installation, remove the end cap to access three socket head cap bolts: the center bolt secures the slide; the outer bolts move the slide 1/8" in or out. The low-profile slide permits pivot placement other than the American Standard setback (2-3/4" / 69.8 mm), enabling fabrication for vertically out-of-square openings.

Key benefits and differentiators:

  • Accepts 3/8" to 3/4" (10–19 mm) glass — ideal for tempered glass storefront and interior glass doors
  • Rigid single-component housing prevents shifting and loss of adjustment over time
  • Internal components remain in place during installation — faster jobsite workflow
  • Durable glass securing pads engineered for longevity in extreme environments
  • Available with optional factory-installed lock mechanisms; keyed cylinders or thumbturns ordered separately

NOTE: All Wedge-Lock® Door Rails include a built-in jamb alignment block. Arms, pivots, closer arms, and floor or overhead pivots are sold separately to match job requirements.

CRL Wedge-Lock® Door Rails are available in several standard architectural finishes and can be quoted in custom
