Description
Overview
- Detects invisible Low-e glass coatings on single and double strength glass
- Helps ensure windows are installed correctly
- Wide temperature stability for reliable field use
- Low-battery indicator; 9V battery included
The CRL Low-e Glass Coating Detector (SKU: AE1601) senses the presence and location of thermally resistant Low-e coatings from a single side, making it ideal for installers, glaziers, and window inspectors verifying energy-efficient glazing. This second-generation Low-E coating detector improves temperature stability and overall reliability compared to the previous model. Simple indicator lights identify clear, near, or far surfaces for fast, on-site checks.
The unit uses one 9V DC battery (included). A low-battery sensor causes the indicator lights to blink when the battery needs replacement.
Notes for insulated glass (IG) units: for the FAR indicator to work, the second pane must be 1/8" (3 mm) or less and the air space must be 9/16" (14 mm) or less. If glass or air space exceed these dimensions the FAR reading is invalid and the AE1601 functions as a single-pane Low-E detector—test both sides to confirm the NEAR indicator. If neither side lights, the glass is clear. Laminated (Lami) units must be tested on both sides.
Buy the AE1601 Low-e detector to verify Low-E coatings and ensure correct window installation.
