Polishing performance depends on two key variables: concentration and temperature. For surface restoration, mix Cerium Oxide with water to form a thin paste, keep the paste damp during polishing, and avoid overheating which will dry the paste and reduce effectiveness.

For recirculating slurry systems, measure concentration by Degrees Baume with a hydrometer. Mix heated water (at least 80ºF / 30ºC) and Cerium Oxide, then take a surface reading:

• Light surface cleaning / pre-silvering: ~1º Baume (≈1.6 oz. Cerium per gallon or 11.8 g/L)
• Beveling and edging: 3º–5º Baume (≈4–7.2 oz. per gallon or 29.7–53.7 g/L)

Maintain slurry temperature between 90ºF and 105ºF (32ºC–40ºC) for optimum performance.
