CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills (SKU: PDT134) use a specialized diamond-and-bronze bond engineered for maximum performance on flat glass. Metal bond drills deliver the longest service life of any diamond drill—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper maintenance and periodic use of a wet sharpening stone to expose fresh diamonds. These Italian-made, multi-layer drills cut faster and run cooler than standard drills and feature a full 3/8" (10 mm) deep cutting surface filled with diamonds and bronze bond for extended durability. Because of their multi-layer construction, they are more fragile and should be used only in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces.
The CRL PD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) diameter shank for a secure grip. The CRL PDT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread), a common choice for U.S. and European glass drilling machines and compatible with many portable and production drill rigs.
NOTE: Always wear proper safety gear including gloves and eye protection when drilling glass. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow precautions can result in operator injury.
