These CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills are thin-walled, precision tools with a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep, multi-layer diamond and bonding matrix engineered for high-speed, high-production glass drilling. Ideal for production runs on flat (plate) glass, the DCD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 9.5 mm) shank for a positive grip, while the HBT Series (SKU HBT1) uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas), a common mounting for U.S. and European glass-drilling machines.

Because electro-formed bits are extremely fragile, use only in a precision, true-running production drilling press. Never apply excessive pressure; operate on flat surfaces only. Regularly "dress" (sharpen) the drill with a dressing stone before use to maximize cutting performance — a dressing stone is strongly recommended when working with electro-formed diamond drills.

IMPORTANT NOTE: CRL DCD and HBT Series drills have very thin walls and are INTENDED FOR FLAT (PLATE) GLASS ONLY. They are EXTREMELY FRAGILE and designed for production-type drilling presses.

NEVER perform freehand drilling. If using a hand drill, stabilize the work with a base such as the GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases. Improper use may damage the bit and void the warranty.

Always wear proper safety gear (gloves, eye protection). Work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in injury.
