CRL Adjustable Spring Power Overhead Concealed Door Closer (SKU: CRL8770A)
The CRL8770A is an ADA-compliant, overhead concealed door closer designed for retrofit or new installations. Offered as a body-only unit with mounting clips to replace non-adjustable closers, or as complete packages that include the closer body, mounting clips, Type "S" side-load arm or Type "A" end-load arm, and a "DP" adjustable dual-purpose bottom pivot set or "GE" pivot set. Ideal for commercial entrances where a concealed, vandal-resistant closer is required.
Key features & benefits:
- Adjustable spring power: Tension adjusts from a minimum 8-1/2 lb. opening force up to medium spring size to suit site conditionsβimportant for ADA-compliant openings and varied door sizes.
- Independent adjustment valves: Separate, non-critical valves control closing and latching speeds independently for precise door control.
- Special retaining rings: Prevent adjustment valve screws from backing out of the closer body, improving reliability and safety.
- Multiple hold options: Available in 90ΒΊ and 105ΒΊ hold-open or no-hold models to match project requirements.
- Fits common extrusions: Bodies fit standard 1-3/4" x 4" (44 x 102 mm) or larger top rail extrusions.
Notes & recommendations: An auxiliary floor or overhead door stop is recommended to prevent damage from over-extension of maximum allowable swing. Closers set to meet A.D.A. opening-force limits may not provide sufficient spring power to reliably close large or heavy doors under specific site conditions; verify suitability for your door and hardware combination.
Differentiator: CRL8770A combines concealed, vandal-resistant design with adjustable spring power and independent valve controlβmaking it a reliable ADA-focused solution for commercial and institutional door openings.
