Description
Overview
- Designed for high-volume glass fabrication and production drilling
- 3/8" Diamond matrix depth (10 mm) for long cutting life
- Two mounting styles: straight shank (extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8") or Belgian thread (1/2" gas thread)
CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills — SKU: PD218 use an Italian-made multi-layer diamond and bronze bond engineered for maximum performance in glass. Metal bond diamond drills deliver the longest life of any diamond drill: with proper maintenance and wet sharpening, expect 1,000–2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass. These drills run cooler and cut faster than conventional bits and feature a full 3/8" (10 mm) deep diamond cutting surface for extended life. Because metal bond drills are more fragile, they should be used in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces. The PD Series provides an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" shank for a positive chuck grip; the PDT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread), compatible with most U.S. and European glass drilling machines and production equipment. Suitable for portable units such as the CRL AMZ1 when used with proper machine setup.
NOTE: Always wear appropriate safety gear (gloves and eye protection) when drilling glass. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow precautions can result in operator injury.
Ordering: For high-volume glass drilling needs, choose PD218 metal bond diamond drills for longer life and consistent production performance. Contact CRL or add to cart to get started.
