Overview
- Designed for high-volume glass fabrication and production drilling
- 3/8" diamond matrix depth for extended cutting life
- Two mounting styles: straight shank or Belgian (1/2" gas) thread
CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills use a specially formulated diamond-and-bronze bond for maximum performance when drilling glass. Metal bond drills deliver the longest life of any diamond drill—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper maintenance and periodic sharpening using a wet sharpening stone. These Italian-made, multi-layer drills cut faster and run cooler than many alternatives. With a full 3/8" (10 mm) deep cutting surface filled with industrial diamonds, they offer long service life but require careful handling and use in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces. The PD Series features an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) shank for a secure grip. The PDT Series (SKU PDT218) uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" / 12.7 mm gas thread), a common choice for U.S. and European glass drilling machines and production equipment; they also work with portable machines such as the CRL AMZ1.
NOTE: Always wear appropriate safety gear—gloves and eye protection—when drilling glass. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (Cat. No. GF1) whenever using electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
For durable, high-volume glass drilling with Belgian-thread mounting, order PDT218 or contact CRL for volume pricing and compatibility assistance.
