Overview
- Designed for high-volume glass fabrication and production drilling
- 3/8" diamond matrix cutting depth (10 mm) for extended life
- Two mounting styles: straight shank or Belgian (1/2" gas) thread
CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills (SKU: PDT314) use a specialized diamond-and-bronze bond engineered for maximum performance in glass. Metal bond diamond drills deliver the longest life of any diamond drill—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper maintenance and periodic sharpening using a wet sharpening stone. Italian-made, multi-layer construction cuts faster and runs cooler than conventional drills. The full 3/8" (10 mm) deep cutting surface is filled with diamonds and bronze bond for prolonged service life; note this construction is more fragile and requires use in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces.
The CRL PD Series features an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) diameter shank for a secure grip. The CRL PDT Series (PDT314) uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" / 12.7 mm gas thread), a common choice for U.S. and European glass drilling machines and compatible with portable machines like the CRL AMZ1 while being especially well suited for production equipment.
NOTE: Always wear proper safety gear (gloves, eye protection). Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (Cat. No. GF1) when using electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
