Overview
- Designed for high-volume glass fabrication and production drilling
- 3/8" diamond matrix depth for extended cutting life
- Two mounting styles: straight shank (extra-long 1-3/8" × 3/8") or Belgian (1/2" gas) thread
CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills (SKU: PD316) use a specially formulated diamond and brass bond for maximum performance cutting tempered and annealed glass. Metal bond diamond drills provide the longest life of any diamond drill—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper maintenance and periodic sharpening on a wet sharpening stone. Made in Italy with multi-layer construction, these drills cut faster and run cooler than competing glass diamond drills. The full 3/8" (10 mm) deep diamond-filled cutting surface and bronze bond extend tool life but require use in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces to avoid breakage. The PD Series features an extra-long 1-3/8" by 3/8" (35 by 10 mm) diameter shank for a positive grip; the PDT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" (12.7 mm) gas thread) common to U.S. and European glass drilling machines. Suitable for portable units like the CRL AMZ1 and for production equipment in glass shops.
NOTE: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves and eye protection, and work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow safety precautions can result in operator injury.
For high-volume glass drilling with long-life performance, order CRL PD/PDT metal bond diamond drills (PD316) today.
