Overview

  • Designed for high-volume glass fabrication and production drilling
  • 3/8" diamond matrix depth for extended cutting life
  • Two mounting styles: straight shank (extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8") or Belgian thread (1/2" gas thread)

CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills (SKU: PD3) use a multi-layer diamond and bronze/brass bond engineered in Italy for maximum performance in glass drilling. Metal bond diamond drills deliver the longest life of any diamond drill—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper wet cooling and routine sharpening on a wet sharpening stone. These drills cut faster and run cooler than many alternatives thanks to a full 3/8" (10 mm) deep cutting surface packed with industrial diamonds. Because of their dense bond, they offer superior longevity but are more fragile and should be used only in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces.

The CRL PD Series features an extra-long straight shank (1-3/8" x 3/8") for a positive grip in production spindles. The CRL PDT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" / 12.7 mm gas thread), compatible with most U.S. and European glass drilling machines and popular in portable and production equipment such as the CRL AMZ1.

NOTE: Always wear proper safety gear including gloves and eye protection when drilling glass. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt Device (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow precautions can result in injury.
