Overview
- Designed for high-volume glass fabrication and production drilling
- 3/8" diamond matrix depth (10 mm) for extended cutting life
- Two mounting styles: straight shank or Belgian (1/2" gas) thread
CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills (SKU: PDT3) use a specialized diamond-and-bronze bond for maximum performance when drilling glass. Metal bond diamond drill bits deliver the longest life among diamond drills—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper maintenance and periodic dressing on a wet sharpening stone. These Italian-made, multi-layer glass drill bits cut faster and run cooler than competing options. The full 3/8" (10 mm) deep diamond cutting surface provides extended life but requires use on flat glass surfaces in true-running machines. CRL PD Series drills have an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) diameter shank for a positive grip. The CRL PDT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" / 12.7 mm gas thread), compatible with most U.S. and European glass drilling machines and common portable units such as the CRL AMZ1—ideal for production equipment and high-volume glass drilling applications.
NOTE: Always wear proper safety gear (gloves and eye protection) when drilling glass. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in serious injury.
