Overview

  • Designed for high-volume glass fabrication
  • 3/8" diamond matrix depth (10 mm) for extended life
  • Two mounting styles available: straight shank or Belgian thread
  • PDT model features Belgian mount (1/2" gas thread) — popular on U.S. and European glass drilling machines

CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills use a specialized diamond-and-bronze bond engineered for maximum performance in glass drilling. Metal bond diamond drills deliver the longest life of any diamond drill type — with proper maintenance and use of a wet sharpening stone they can achieve 1,000–2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass. These Italian-made, multi-layer drills cut faster and run cooler than many alternatives. The full 3/8" (10 mm) deep cutting surface is packed with diamonds and bronze bond for extended life; because of the dense bond construction these drills are more fragile and should be used in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces. The PD series offers an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) diameter shank for a positive grip. The PDT series (SKU PDT4) features Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas) and is well-suited for production equipment and compatible portable machines such as the CRL AMZ1.

NOTE: Always wear proper safety gear (gloves and eye protection) when drilling glass. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt Device (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow precautions can result in operator injury.
