CRL Butyl Architectural Glazing Tape (SKU: GT205) is an extruded, preformed butyl tape supplied on release-paper rolls. Engineered for long-lasting, flexible exterior seals, it resists aging and weathering while accommodating normal expansion/contraction and wind loading. Ideal as a primary spacing and glazing seal when installing glass into window sashes and for sealing metal-to-metal, wood-to-glass, and metal-to-plastic joints. Designed for approximately 10% compression at installation to accommodate surface alignment.

Good Glazing Practices
Surfaces must be free of frost, standing water, and contaminants. Clean with a brush, solvent-wash (MEK, toluene, or naphtha), and dry before applying tape. Apply with positive contact and ~10% compression to fully marry surfaces. Maintain compression with clips or wedges for best weather seals. Use 80 Durometer Shore A setting blocks at sill quarter points; use 50 Durometer Shore A spacing shims for glass over 100". Place sill tape at or above sight line unless a cap bead is specified—then place tape 3/16" (4.8 mm) below the sight line. Butt tape ends without stretching; do not overlap. Keep release paper in place until ready to set glass.

Product Warning / Limitations:
For applications above two floors, prevent over-compression by using a spacer, shim, or a structural cap bead (such as silicone), or specify CRL 100+ Load Bearing Glazing Tape.
