CRL 33S Silicone Sealant (SKU: 33STC) — a high-quality, 100% silicone, one-component, acetic cure elastomer that cures at room temperature without added activators, stabilizers, or catalysts. Popular for glazing, weatherproofing, and sanitary joints, it provides long-term flexibility and adhesion at a competitive price.
Key benefits / differentiators:
- 100% silicone sealant for glass and aluminum applications
- Wide service temperature: -80° to 400°F (-62° to 204°C)
- Apply as low as -35°F (-37°C); suitable for outdoor low-temp installations
- Mildew-resistant options for baths, showers, and sanitary installations
- NSF Certified to Standard 51 and meets FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 for food-related uses
Basic Uses — Designed for joining and sealing non-porous building materials such as glass, aluminum, stainless steel, wood, and many plastics. Typical applications: curtainwall joints, steel and aluminum windows, skylights, refrigerated trucks and walk-in freezers, tubs and showers (use mildew-resistant colors where indicated). Surfaces must be clean and sealant tooled for good adhesion. Cat. No. S1L2100 Primer may be required on some substrates.
Performance Data — 350 psi tensile strength; 120 psi lap shear at 1/8" (3 mm); 25 ppi tear strength. Meets or exceeds:
- TT-S-001543A (COM-NBS) Class A
- TT-S-00230C (COM-NBS) Class A
- ASTM C-920 Type S, Grade NS, Class 25, Use NT, G, A
- CAN/CGSB 19.13-M87
Also: UL Recognized Component, meets CARB 2003 VOC requirements, and qualifies for LEED® credits.
Limitations & exclusions — Not recommended for structural glazing or insulating glass glazing, concrete and stone expansion joints, horizontal decks, patios, driveways or terraces subject to abrasion, submerged joints (swimming pools, aquariums), plazas, pavements, or surfaces with special protective/cosmetic coatings (mirrors, reflective glass, polyethylene, polypropylene). Not suitable for painting. Remove old sealant before reapplication. Check cartridge label and the Specification Data Sheet for additional limitations.
