These CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills are thin-walled, precision bits with a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep, multi-layer diamond and bonding matrix engineered for high-speed, high-production glass drilling. Ideal for electro-formed diamond drill bits for glass, the CRL DCD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 9.5 mm) diameter shank for a secure grip in production presses. The CRL HBT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread), a common choice for U.S. and European glass drilling machines.

These thin-walled drills deliver outstanding results when used under exacting conditions—on flat plate glass in a precision drilling machine. Because they are extremely fragile, never apply excessive pressure or use freehand drilling. Always use a production-type drilling press or a stabilized base (such as CRL GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases) when a hand drill must be used.

Sharpening or "dressing" the bit with a dressing stone before each use significantly improves cutting performance; a dressing stone is strongly recommended for electro-formed diamond drills.

IMPORTANT NOTE: CRL DCD and HBT Series diamond drills have very thin walls and are EXTREMELY FRAGILE. They are intended for drilling flat (plate) glass ONLY, in a properly running production drilling press. Use in any other manner may damage the bit and void the warranty.

SAFETY: Always wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves and eye protection. Work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) whenever using electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
