Overview

  • Designed for high-volume glass fabrication and production drilling
  • 3/8" diamond matrix depth (10 mm) for extended cutting life
  • Two mounting styles: straight shank (extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" shank) or Belgian thread (1/2" gas thread)

CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills use a special diamond-and-bronze bond for maximum performance in glass. Metal bond diamond drills deliver the longest life of any diamond drill—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper maintenance and periodic sharpening using a wet sharpening stone to expose fresh diamonds. These Italian-made, multi-layer drills cut faster and run cooler than comparable drills, with a full 3/8" (10 mm) deep cutting surface filled with diamonds and bronze bond. Because of the dense bond, these drills offer extended life but are more fragile and should be used only in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces. The PD Series features an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) diameter shank for a positive grip. The PDT Series features Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread), a common choice for U.S. and European glass drilling machines and production equipment; they can also be used in portable drills such as the CRL AMZ1.

NOTE: Always wear proper safety gear (gloves and eye protection) when drilling glass and work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt Device (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
