CRL Tremco® POLYshim™ II Tape (SKU: 7241YP3) is a 100% solids, highly adhesive, elastic, cross-linked preformed butyl tape designed for compression glazing systems. Ideal for high-performance glazing of curtain wall, unitized curtain walls, punched and ribbon window systems, and sloped glazing, this pre-shimmed glazing tape doubles as a continuous rubber shim to prevent sealant squeeze-out and reduce glass breakage by eliminating pressure points.
The continuous shim design removes the need to preshim the lite before tape installation. POLYshim™ II offers strong adhesion, heat resistance, sealant compatibility, and excellent weathering resistance, making it suitable for many glazing system applications and long-run commercial storefront and curtainwall projects.
Typical Physical Properties
Base Polymer: cross linked butyl rubber (polyisobutylene); Solids Content: 100% by weight. Hardness: 57 durometer Shore "00". Temperature Range: Application 20°F (-7°C) to 120°F (49°C); Service -65°F (-54°C) to 200°F (93°C). Weathering: Unaffected by Ultraviolet through glass. Remains flexible at low temperatures.
Applicable Standards
POLYshim™ II Tape meets the requirements of AAMA 800-92 Specifications 804.3, 806.3, and 807.3.
Limitations
Not for use in joints subjected to continuous water immersion or temperatures exceeding 200°F (93°C). Do not compression glaze glass with POLYshim™ II Tape having less than a 1/8" (3 mm) shim.
