- High-quality formulation for face glazing of wood sash
- Goes on smooth and evenly
CRL Wood Sash Putty (SKU: 5005GL) is formulated for glazing and repairing wood window sash. Its off-white color blends with most unfinished wood surfaces and provides a smooth, even application for window glazing projects and sash restoration.
Surfaces should be clean, dry, and frost-free. For best results prime wood first with an oil-based primer. When re-glazing, remove all old putty and bedding. If putty is stiff, warm by rolling into coils in your hands to soften. Smooth glazing to an angle that sheds water. Typical dry time before painting is four to six weeks depending on temperature and humidity; putty must be painted after it has skinned over and attained a firm set. For durable finishes, use a high-quality oil-based paint. Off-white putty is supplied in factory-sealed plastic containers to preserve freshness and shelf life. Available in five retail-ready sizes.
Technical Data: Meets Federal Specification TT-G-410E; ASTM C669-75, C669, D2249, D2376, C797.
Product Warning:
Important: Do not thin putty. Do not add solvents, oils, or color pigments. The putty cannot be tinted by adding pigments.
Mixing Instructions: Mix the ENTIRE contents of the container prior to use. Empty the entire container onto glass or a plastic surface and work the oils into the putty until uniform. DO NOT mix small portions separately—this can produce too-dry or oil-rich handfuls. DO NOT mix on cardboard (cardboard absorbs oils).
Check the product specification data sheet for additional application guidelines and limitations.
Note: Best-by shelf life is 6–8 months when stored in a sealed container.
