- High-quality formulation for wood sash glazing and window repair
- Applies smoothly and evenly for professional glazing results
CRL Wood Sash Putty (SKU 500QT) is formulated specifically for glazing wood windows and sash. Its off-white color blends with most unfinished wood and the putty goes on smooth and evenly, making it ideal for wood window repair, re-glazing, and restoration projects.
Surfaces should be clean, dry, and frost-free. For best adhesion and longevity, prime wood first with an oil-based primer. When re-glazing, remove all old putty and bedding. If necessary, warm and soften by placing glazing in your hands and rolling into coils. Tool the putty to an angle that sheds water. Typical dry time before painting is four to six weeks, depending on temperature and humidity; putty must be painted after it skins over and attains a firm set. For best results, topcoat with a high-quality oil-based paint. Off-white putty is packaged in factory-sealed plastic containers to preserve freshness and shelf life. Available in five retail-ready sizes for over-the-counter sales.
Technical Data: Meets the requirements of Federal Specification TT-G-410E; ASTM C 669-75, C669, D2249, D2376, C797.
Product Warning:
Important: Do not thin putty. Do not add solvents, oils, or color pigments—putty cannot be tinted.
Mixing Instructions: Mix the ENTIRE contents of the container prior to use. Empty the entire container onto glass or plastic and work the oils into the putty until uniform. DO NOT mix small portions at a time—partial mixing can produce batches that are too dry or too oily. DO NOT mix on cardboard, which will absorb useful oils.
Check the spec data sheet for additional application guidelines and limitations.
Note: Best-by shelf life is 6–8 months if stored properly in a sealed container.
