Overview
CRL Open Cell Backer Rod is a versatile polyurethane foam designed for sealing applications, effectively controlling sealant depth and functioning as a bond breaker.
This product is compatible with all cold-applied and hot-pour sealants, and its soft material ensures easy compression during installation.
Available in diameters ranging from 5/8” to 2” (16 to 51 mm), it is perfect for both vertical and horizontal wall joints, though not recommended for horizontal traffic surfaces like pavement joints.
With temperature limits of -60° to +500°F (-15° to +260°C), it's ideal for high-performance sealants such as silicones and urethanes, providing a reliable solution without the risk of outgassing.
For optimal performance, select a size approximately 50% wider than the joint for a secure fit.
