Description
Overview
- Fast cutting for high-production glass drilling
- Extended work life with regular dressing
- Two mounting styles: straight shank or Belgian type (gas thread)
These CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills are thin-walled drill bits for glass with a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep multi-layer diamond matrix engineered for high-speed, high-production drilling. Designed for precision glass fabrication, the DCD Series adds an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 9.5 mm) diameter shank for a positive grip, while the HBT Series (SKU HBT316) uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread) commonly used on U.S. and European glass drilling machines.
Because these electro-formed diamond drill bits have very thin walls, they are EXTREMELY FRAGILE and intended for drilling flat (plate) glass only in a true running, production-type drilling press. Never freehand drill—use a precision machine or a stabilization base such as CRL GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases when using a hand-held setup. Always dress (sharpen) the drill with a dressing stone before each use to maintain cutting performance.
Safety & handling: Handle with care and use on flat, horizontal surfaces only. Always wear gloves and eye protection. When using electric tools with water or coolant, use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury and may void the warranty.
