Overview

  • For fast cutting, high-production glass drilling
  • Extended work life with multi-layer electro-formed diamond surface
  • Two mounting styles: straight shank or Belgian (1/2" gas) thread

These CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills are thin-walled bits featuring a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep multi-layer diamond matrix designed for high-speed, high-production drilling of plate glass. The CRL DCD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 9.5 mm) diameter shank for a positive grip; the CRL HBT Series uses Belgian-style 1/2" (12.7 mm, gas) threads popular with U.S. and European glass drilling machines. These electro-formed diamond drill bits deliver precise, fast cutting when used under the correct conditions.

Because these drills have an extremely thin wall, they are FRAGILE and intended for drilling flat (plate) glass ONLY in a precision, production-type drilling press. Never apply excessive pressure. Handle with care and use on flat surfaces only. Sharpening or "dressing" the drill before each use with a dressing stone significantly improves cutting performance—dressing stones are recommended when working with electro-formed diamond drills.

IMPORTANT NOTE: CRL DCD and HBT Series Diamond Drills are extremely fragile due to their thin wall and are intended for operation in a true running, production drilling press only.

NEVER perform freehand drilling. Hand drills require a stabilization base such as the GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases. Misuse may damage the bit and void the warranty.

Always wear appropriate safety gear (gloves and eye protection) when drilling glass. Work on a flat, horizontal surface and use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) when electric tools are used with water or coolant. Failure to follow these precautions can result in operator injury.
