These CRL Electro-Formed Diamond Drills (SKU DCD516) are thin-walled, featuring a 1/2" (12.7 mm) deep multi-layer diamond and bonding matrix engineered for high-speed, high-production drilling of flat glass. Use these thin-walled diamond drill bits for glass when precise, repeatable holes and long service life are required. The CRL DCD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) diameter shank for a positive grip in production presses. The CRL HBT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread) compatible with many U.S. and European glass drilling machines.

These electro-formed diamond drills deliver outstanding results when used under exacting, controlled conditions. Because of their extremely thin wall, they are FRAGILE and intended for drilling flat (plate) glass ONLY in a true running, production-type drilling press. Never perform freehand drilling.

Handle with care: use a precision drilling machine, a flat horizontal surface, and avoid excessive pressure. Sharpening or "dressing" the drill before each use will substantially improve cutting performance—use a dressing stone with electro-formed diamond drills. A stabilization base (for example CRL GDB1 or GDB2 Glass Drilling Bases) is required if not using a fixed press. Using these bits contrary to specifications may damage the bit and void the warranty.

Always wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves and eye protection, and use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter when using electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow precautions can result in operator injury.
